How to use GhostCanvas

From purchase to your first invisible interview — follow these steps to get set up in under 5 minutes.

Recommended: Use Google Chrome for your interviews

Chrome works best with GhostCanvas — the overlay stays reliably on top without getting hidden behind the browser window. If the window ever goes behind, press Ctrl + Shift + T to force GhostCanvas always-on-top.

1. Setup Flowchart

Step 01

Purchase Your License

Go to the payment page and complete the ₹499 one-time payment. Your lifetime license key will appear on-screen immediately and be emailed to you.

Note: Each license is tied to one machine only.
Step 02

Download & Launch

Head to the download page and run the Windows executable. GhostCanvas will open an onboarding wizard on your desktop.
Step 03

Activate Your License

Paste your license key into the GhostCanvas desktop app. It will verify and permanently unlock the software for your machine.

Keep your license key safe — it is tied to your machine fingerprint.
Step 04

Add Your Gemini API Key

GhostCanvas needs a Google Gemini API key for real-time AI answers and screen analysis. Paste it in the Settings panel (Ctrl + ,). Gemini has a generous free tier — no billing required to get started.
Step 05

Choose Your Voice Engine

Pick your preferred transcription mode:

Deepgram Nova-2 (Cloud) — Ultra low-latency. Get a free key at deepgram.com.
Whisper Local (Offline) — Runs 100% on your machine. Requires Python 3.9+. No data leaves your device.
Step 06

Upload Resume & Q&A Sheet

Open Settings (Ctrl + ,) and upload your resume (PDF or text) and any custom Q&A cheat sheet. GhostCanvas will use these to tailor every AI answer to your background.

Select Your Interview Mode

You're Ready — Go Invisible!

The wizard closes and GhostCanvas enters invisible overlay mode. You are now ready for your interview. Press Alt + R to start voice listening, and the AI will begin answering in real time.

Use Google Chrome

Chrome works seamlessly with GhostCanvas — the overlay stays reliably on top during your interview. If you use apps like Microsoft Teams or Zoom for the call, they may push the overlay behind. Press Ctrl + Shift + T to instantly force GhostCanvas back on top.

Position the mic correctly

For cloud transcription (Deepgram), GhostCanvas listens to what the interviewer says via your system microphone. In video calls, the interviewer's voice comes through your speakers — switch your transcription source to "System Audio" or "Stereo Mix" in GhostCanvas settings for best results.

Set your mode before the interview starts

Switch to the right skill mode (DSA, Behavioral, etc.) before the call starts. This tunes the AI's response style and context focus, so answers are immediately relevant when the interviewer asks their first question.

Prepare your Q&A sheet the night before

Add your most likely behavioral questions and polished answers to the Q&A cheat sheet. GhostCanvas will surface these answers when it detects similar questions — giving you word-for-word recall of your best responses.

Instant hide before screen share

If the interviewer asks you to share your screen, press Ctrl + Shift + V immediately to hide the overlay. GhostCanvas becomes completely invisible in one keystroke.
